Everything you need to get Magpie set up and singing — plus a real human at the other end when you need one.
Found a bug, have a feature in mind, or just stuck? Write to us and we'll get back to you. Please include your macOS version and Magpie's version (Settings → About) so we can help faster.
You can reach everything below from inside Magpie too:
Magpie lives in your menu bar — there's no main window. After launch, look for the bird icon in the menu bar, or press ⌘⇧V to open the history. A first-run Welcome tour explains the rest.
⌘⇧V opens the popover from any app. ⌘⌥1–9 copy your most-recent clips without opening the window. Every global shortcut is rebindable in Settings → Hotkeys.
Point Magpie at a folder (you grant it once) and screenshots saved there are added to your history. Screenshots taken straight to the clipboard are captured automatically — no Screen Recording permission needed.
Drag it anywhere; it snaps to the nearest edge and remembers its spot per monitor. Set its opacity from 10–100%, or turn it off entirely, in Settings → Floating Button.
Password-manager and concealed items are skipped automatically. Add any app to the ignore list in Settings → Privacy so Magpie never reads from it. See the privacy policy.
Remove a single clip from its row menu, or clear everything from Settings. You can also cap how many items Magpie keeps. With iCloud sync on, clearing a clip removes it across your devices; you can also turn sync off and use "Remove iCloud copy" to clear what's in your iCloud.
The included companion for iPhone and iPad shows the same history and saves clips via the iOS Share Sheet. Turn on optional iCloud sync (off by default) and your devices stay in step through your own iCloud — end-to-end encrypted, never to us.
Another app may already own that shortcut. Open Settings → Hotkeys and rebind the "Show history" shortcut to something free. If nothing opens at all, confirm Magpie is running — its bird icon should be in the menu bar; if not, launch it from Applications.
A few things are skipped by design:
Purchases and refunds for Mac App Store apps are handled by Apple, not by us. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account you bought Magpie with. If something about the app pushed you to ask, we'd love to hear why — email us and we'll try to make it right.
Still stuck? Email support@geesoft.eu with your macOS version and Magpie's version (Settings → About) and we'll help you out.
